3. Indira Gandhi : (14 January 1980 – 31 October 1984):

The only Female PM of India, till date. Indira Gandhi was known for her stronghold on the cabinet and ruthlessness. She was the one to lead the liberation was of East Pakistan (Now Bangladesh). The was the first Pm ever to declare an emergency for 2 years (1975-77). She also planned out the storming of the Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar to counter the Punjab insurgency. The action of which led to her assassination in 1984 by her Sikh bodyguards.

2. Lal Bahadur Shastri : (9 June 1964 – 11 January 1966) (Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan):

An absolute brilliant man, fearless, thoughtful, simple yet a bold decision maker. He was a man of steel. He led India through a battle of 1965 wherein he placed a slogan, “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” (“Hail the soldier, Hail the farmer”). This slogan became immensely popular. The war ended with with the Tashkent Agreement of 10 January 1966; he died of a heart attack the following day, still in Tashkent.

Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India and a central figure in Indian politics before and after independence. He emerged as the paramount leader of the Indian independence movement under the tutelage of Mahatma Gandhi and ruled India from its establishment as an independent nation in 1947 until his death in 1964. He is considered to be the architect of the modern Indian nation-state: a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic. He was also known as Pandit Nehru due to his roots with the Kashmiri Pandit community while many Indian children knew him as “Uncle Nehru” (Chacha Nehru).  – source
